For a well-known grid operator, Bredo installed a raised grating floor system on the corporate headquarters — a safe, level walking surface above the roof structure, serving as an access walkway to the technical plant on the roof. A classic bespoke solution from the Bredo portfolio.
The brief
Various pieces of technical plant sit on the roof of the corporate headquarters — air-conditioning units, mobile-network components, safety equipment — that need regular maintenance. Walking directly on the roof membrane is neither safe nor permitted, and the plant is scattered across the area.
Work carried out
- Raised substructure above the roof membrane
- Bolted, weather-resistant grating panels
- Level, slip-resistant walking surface between all maintenance points
- Structural cut-outs above critical connections for future access
Why a raised construction
The raised construction protects the roof waterproofing from mechanical loads, keeps the maintenance points beneath it accessible at all times, and creates a perfectly level walking surface on an uneven roof area — without interfering with the roof's structural design.
Result
A permanently safe access walkway across the entire roof area — low-maintenance, weatherproof and designed for decades of use. We regularly deliver comparable solutions in our bespoke solutions division, complementing our flooring systems.
