In RWE AG's in-house supermarket on Altenessener Straße in Essen, Bredo installed around 250 m² of click-system LVT flooring in a herringbone pattern in 2026 — as part of a wider refurbishment project at this site.
The brief
The existing stone-tile floor in the sales area was to be replaced with a new, high-quality LVT covering in a herringbone pattern. The floor has to withstand high footfall — RWE administrative staff use the supermarket daily — while also visually upgrading the sales area.
Work carried out
- Priming and levelling of the existing stone-tile area
- Installation of 250 m² of click-system LVT in a herringbone pattern
- Selection and specification of the covering with a focus on durability
Challenges
High footfall in an in-house supermarket means every square metre is in constant use. Product selection therefore focused closely on the durability of the LVT: a click system for straightforward spot replacement, and a herringbone pattern for an even wear appearance across the whole area.
Result
A visually calm, herringbone-laid sales area that clearly exceeds expectations for a modern staff supermarket, while being built to withstand years of heavy use.
